Current responsibilities
Brian Smith concentrates on both the sales and leasing of industrial property and commercial land transactions. Brian’s diverse background includes tenant and landlord representation, buyer and seller representation, land sales as well as business park leasing. Representing a wide range of companies including medium to large private owner/ occupiers, developers and large cap institutions. Brian’s 6 person team overseas the leasing of just over 11.5 million square feet of institutional grade warehouse space located throughout Miami Dade County.
Experience Since 1997, Brian has been involved in many of South Florida’s most important industrial trends and transactions. Brian led the team representing NBC Universal/Telemundo Enterprises in the record breaking build to suit lease of over 550,000 SF for a world headquarters broadcast center in western Miami Dade. The lease is the most valuable lease ever completed in Florida.
Brian has completed over 3.0 billion dollars in transactions over his 23 year career. His 6-member team averages ~2.5 million square feet of warehouse transactions a year.
Brian joined JLL in February 2016 as Managing Director and serves as the Industrial Lead for South Florida. He also sits on JLL’s prestigious Industrial Executive Council. Prior to that he was an Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield.
Education and Affiliations
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Economics from Florida International University - Magna Cum Laude, and is a licensed real estate salesperson, State of Florida.
Brian is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR).
He attended Christopher Columbus High School in Miami Florida.
