Career summary:
Matt is a director in the Orange County office of JLL Capital Markets, Americas. He joined JLL as part of the HFF acquisition and has more than 15 years of experience in commercial real estate. Working with private and institutional developer clients in Western and Central US markets, he specializes in capitalization of ground-up construction, primarily joint venture equity, construction loans, and other structured finance products. Additionally, he assists in recapitalization and bridge financing for newly constructed apartment communities. Matt’s relationships with capital providers include more than 200 investment managers, private equity funds, life insurance companies, REITs, family offices, banks, and debt funds.
Matt started at HFF in February 2012 as part of the Southern California Multi-Housing Investment Advisory team before shifting his focus to development capitalization in 2016. While at HFF and JLL he has been involved in over 110 closed multifamily transactions with more than $9 billion in total capitalization. Prior to JLL, he served as an acquisition’s analyst with The Apartment Group, where he sourced and underwrote distressed multifamily acquisitions and note purchases throughout northern California. Prior to that and before and before a two-year hiatus to attend graduate school, he was a senior property manager at Alden Management Group, where he managed and leased a portfolio of more than 800,000-square-feet of office, industrial, and retail assets throughout Southern California.
