Current Responsibilities
Jay Johnson is a Managing Director at JLL. With more than 20 years of healthcare real estate experience, Mr. Johnson oversees JLL’s Healthcare Real Estate Practice group nationally, which includes real estate consulting, buy/sell/lease/debt brokerage, capital markets, construction management, property management, valuation, and due diligence services for healthcare occupiers and investors in all US markets.
As leader of the Healthcare Real Estate Practice, he ensures that JLL has the best people, processes and technology to meet the needs of our healthcare clients. He is deeply involved in developing solutions that use real estate to enable the mission and business strategy of our clients in a rapidly-changing healthcare environment, and in working directly with clients to ensure their satisfaction.
Experience
Prior to joining JLL, Mr. Johnson was the Chief Operaing Officer for Transwestern’s Healthcare Services practice group and a principal leader in expanding their healthcare services nationally.
Prior to Transwestern, he was Senior Director in the Healthcare Services Group at CBRE. As a founding member of the group, he played a lead role in developing facilities management and transaction solutions for 26 million square feet of hospital, outpatient and medical office space.
Before CBRE, Mr. Johnson was a senior manager in the Real Estate Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young, where he assisted hospitals with capital strategies, sales, and sale/leaseback transactions, unlocking $320 million in value for redeployment back into core business needs.
Education & Affiliations
Mr. Johnson earned his Master of Science in City Planning and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, including completion of the Real Estate Program administered jointly with Georgia State University. He’s also a CCIM, and a former US Army combat engineer officer and Gulf War veteran.
