Current responsibilities:
George Kaufmann is a Managing Director in JLL’s Project and Development Services group. He has extensive experience in the execution of interior construction projects, most notably for financial and trading office buildouts—from programming through close out. In addition, he has expertise in technical due diligence, pre-lease, project budgeting, scheduling as well as lease negotiations support for brokerage. George joined JLL in 2010.
George is a senior team lead for several of JLL’s most important client accounts, including TD Bank, N. A. (Ameritrade and Securities). George supports JLL brokerage professionals and the real estate team in overseeing space program requirements, test-fits and the development of preliminary project budgets. Most recently, George has managed the analysis of a major law firm in the preparation of alternative scenarios to restack or relocate its offices. Each of the scenarios included reports on the ramifications of phasing, scheduling and project budgeting. George successfully managed KCG Holdings relocation of approximately 700 employees from KCG’s existing offices into 168,873 s.f. of new facilities built over 4 floors at One North End Avenue in Lower Manhattan. In addition to the build out, KCG installed chillers, generators and UPS units to support a N + 1 facility.
Experience:
George’s breadth of experience includes:
- Supporting lease negotiations and currently managing the build-out of 200,000 s.f. for a financial services industry client, including a 400-position trading facility in a new development with infrastructure to support a N + 1 facility.
- Managing the build-out of 4 floors over 225,000 s.f. consisting of broadcast and on-air studios, a conference center and mixed use office standards for high value client facing and supporting office personal.
- Managing the re-construction of a 27,000 s.f. conference center floor for a repeat client.
Prior to joining JLL, George was vice president of design and construction at Trinity Real Estate in Hudson Square, NY. He managed and directed the internal design and construction of the 5.5-million-s.f. portfolio compromised of 16-buildings of mixed-use real estate. On a yearly average, George was responsible for a $66 million capital budget and a $23 million tenant improvement program. In addition, George has 33 years of professional experience practicing architecture.
Education and affiliations:
George earned a bachelor of architecture degree from NYIT. He was awarded the Magnetic Award from the 2015 JLL Spotlight Program for his excellence in client service. In addition, he has been a mentor to young professionals through his participation in the JLL Mentoring Program.
