CHICAGO, March 6, 2025 – JLL announced today that it has named Matt Coursen as its new U.S. Healthcare Lead, Leasing Advisory. He now oversees a robust team of hundreds of healthcare specialists across the United States who represent occupiers, owners and investors of healthcare properties.

Coursen joined JLL in 2005 and has built an impressive career partnering with hospitals, health systems and investor clients with cutting-edge location analytics, strategic consulting and sophisticated transaction expertise. Most recently serving as the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Lead, Coursen oversaw significant growth in leasing and advisory revenue over the last several years.

“Matt’s approach to real estate strategy is a perfect blend of art and science,” said Travis McCready, Head of Industries, Leasing Advisory, and Chair, Global Life Sciences Advisory Board, JLL. “His expertise in negotiating complex transactions ensures his clients achieve their goals. As a leader, Matt embodies the player-coach philosophy, actively engaging with clients and teams on the ground while fostering a people- and client-first mentality. But what truly sets him apart is his unwavering commitment to his clients’ shared values, making him not just a strategist but a trusted partner in his clients’ success.”

Coursen, who reports to McCready, believes the key to building an effective real estate strategy is harnessing the power of big data and sophisticated analytics to craft innovative solutions. Since 2018, he has partnered closely with JLL Technologies to develop proprietary data analytics software that has enabled highly effective strategies for many of the most notable healthcare organizations in the country.

“As the leading healthcare real estate advisory firm, JLL is uniquely positioned to meet our clients’ evolving needs,” Coursen said. “Supporting our talented healthcare professionals in developing deep partnerships with our health system and medical asset investor clients nationwide is my top priority. I am excited to build upon JLL’s past success while looking to the future and implementing innovative solutions to drive new growth for our healthcare clients.”

According to JLL’s recently released 2025 Medical Outpatient Building Perspective, an aging population and increasing disease prevalence are driving increased demand for healthcare services. This means JLL’s expertise is more crucial than ever. Coursen works closely with Cheryl Carron, COO, Work Dynamics Americas, and President, Healthcare Division, JLL to serve the complex needs of healthcare organizations across the country.

Based in Washington, D.C., Coursen is active in his community, serving as a member of the Foundation Advisory Board for Children’s National Hospital. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from Washington and Lee University.
