It’s good to be king

As Senior Vice President of JLL’s Industrial Team, Roger Hill oversees acquisitions, dispositions and land sales, leasing and marketing of industrial properties across South Texas.

However, towards the end of this April, he’ll get a new title all together – one that comes with a crown.

Roger was selected as this year’s King Antonio, the official goodwill ambassador for Fiesta San Antonio, the city’s 10-day festival celebrating the city’s rich culture and history. "The title, bestowed by the Texas Cavaliers, traces its roots back to 1927 when the original King Antonio Sterling Clinton Burke was elected by members of the organization.'

The JLL San Antonio office currently has six active members in the Texas Cavaliers organization; Roger will be the first in the group to receive the title.

 “I am truly honored and humbled,” he said. “Serving others and giving back to our wonderful city is important to me and anything I can do to help our city become the best it can be is what motivates me.”

Founded in 1926, the Texas Cavaliers is a San Antonio men’s civic organization made up of local leaders who support Texas children’s charities through their charitable foundation. Roger says there are currently about 600 active members and this year the organization plans to give away $1.3 million to over 60 different deserving children’s charities.

“Being a leader in the community, a leader in the commercial real estate industry and being able to affect our city from both a community and business standpoint is a goal I have strived to achieve,” Roger says. “I am looking forward to giving back to our community in a big way, especially to the organizations assisting the children that need it.”

As King Antonio, Roger will be visiting schools, nursing homes and hospitals throughout the 10-day event, as well as serving as Grand Marshal for the annual Texas Cavaliers River Parade.

“Kids really enjoy seeing King Antonio, and for those of us in the Texas Cavaliers, we enjoy seeing the kids’ smiles and their joy during the time we’re able to spend with them,” he says.

Since becoming a member of the Texas Cavaliers in 2003, Roger has served as President of the Board, served on the Texas Cavalier Charitable Foundation Board, and Commander of the Texas Cavaliers. Roger is active with several local non-profit organizations, including San Antonio Academy, Fiesta San Antonio Commission Executive Committee, Fiesta San Antonio Commission Board of Commissioners and the Texas Wildlife Association.

 “The Texas Cavaliers tradition has been passed down from generation to generation in the Hill family,” he said. “It’s something I hope to one day pass along to my son.”
