Helen Snowball
Head of Human Resources Asia Pacific, Singapore
This International Women’s Day and every day, we are proud to recognize our inspiring women leaders and allies at JLL.
Why does inclusion matter to you?
It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, 20 years old or 70, being excluded destroys culture. Exclusion in the workplace can destroy confidence and lead to poor performance, unhappiness and often a loss of talented workers.
Inclusion does the opposite. Inclusion often leads to happy, productive employees, not to mention helps our bottom line!
With over 93,000 employees worldwide, diversity at JLL is a fact. Inclusion is a choice, and as we shape the future of real estate for a better world, for me, that starts by creating psychologically safe and inclusive workplaces for our people to thrive and we all have a role to play.
How are you inspiring women to achieve their ambitions at JLL?
My approach has always been to try and stand for something bigger than my own success and be the kind of leader that, no matter where I am or what I am working on, I take time out to add value and support other female leaders so that we can all rise and shine together. Being approachable, connecting our female talent to others in the organization who can help them access the resources and knowledge they need to grow and improve, and celebrating each other’s successes. In addition, being open about my own vulnerabilities and career learnings to date have had the most success in inspiring others to achieve their ambitions at JLL.
