JLL steps up for hospital system in Toronto
Facilities team accelerates renovations and new construction to provide critical coronavirus support
As COVID-19 continues to evolve, hospitals around the world are experiencing an influx of patients and adapting to the new climate. A large hospital in Toronto hired JLL’s Commissioning & Building Analytics team for a major redevelopment which included multiple renovations, and the construction of a new patient care tower.
To address the coronavirus pandemic, the opening date was expedited to provide as much additional healthcare space as possible and accommodate those with the greatest needs. This also required repurposing spaces to accommodate COVID-19 patients.
Chris McGrath, JLL Project Manager, and his team were instrumental in supporting the expedited opening of the hospital’s new wing by providing the necessary oversight, consultation, testing expertise, and support for the project team.
“If the hospital succeeds, so do we,” said Chris. “Our team is extremely proud to have been part of this incredible project and to help healthcare providers administer care to those in need.”
The project now follows a scheduled, progressive opening that will offer a new 17-story tower with an enlarged inpatient facility for orthopedic surgery, oncology, respirology and an expanded intensive care unit.
