JLL employee launches FeedmyBangalore
The program has delivered 375,000 meals, and counting, to families under lockdown.
Juggy Marwaha, an Executive Director at JLL India in Bangalore, was worried about people from lower-income households ahead of India’s plan to enter a 21-day lockdown that started March 24.
“Daily-wage earners and their families have no recourse to any sort of sustainable income under this forced lockdown,” he says.
He quickly got in touch with friends – a promoter at online grocery store BigBasket and the CEO of construction group Prestige – to launch FeedmyBangalore, a start-up delivering meals to children and their families each day.
The project was warmly received by the public and authorities. Juggy also has been joined by several JLL colleagues eager to do their part, and they have since extended deliveries to Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Noida.
To date, 375,000 meals across five cities have been delivered. The start-up aims to provide 1 million meals by the end of the lockdown.
“It has been great to see the support. We’ll keep this up until the last day of the lockdown.”
