JLL Senior Property Associate pursues passion for sustainability and community

Brandon Lee and his team keep community connections at the forefront

When Brandon kicked off his career, he was working for a political campaign in his community. It was his skills in building relationships and making connections that eventually led him to pursue a career with JLL in 2018.

As Brandon approaches his third anniversary with the firm, he says, “Joining JLL was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The people on my team are the reason I come to work every day. They’re open-minded, intelligent and supportive. I feel fortunate to learn and grow as part of this talented group that feels like a second family.”

Brandon with his new initiative, a beehive at Post Montgomery Center in San Francisco, CA

Creating a healthy and safe space for his tenants is always front of mind for Brandon and his team. One of the properties his team manages – Post Montgomery Center in San Francisco – received LEED Platinum, Energy Star, and Fitwel certifications in 2020. The team constantly strives to sort waste and save energy when they can. Brandon’s even gone as far as installing a beehive at the building, his latest initiative made possible through partnership with Alvéole Beekeeping Services. Right now, they have about 50,000 active bees working in the hive!

The NorCal Property Management team also knows partnerships are the key to managing a building effectively and efficiently. Brandon partners with everyone from janitorial to engineering to security to tenant relations, and focuses on nurturing these professional relationships.

Growing up, Brandon was inspired to create relationships in his community by his parents, both of whom immigrated from Hong Kong and became professionals in their respective fields. Their success in balancing work, family and giving back to the Chinatown/Chinese community inspired Brandon to do the same. The importance of his heritage and communication prompted him to attend language school and become fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Cantonese. This enabled him to volunteer as a translator, which he still does for organizations and elected officials with their constituents.

“We have a big opportunity with JLL’s Business Resource Groups (BRGs), which provide a platform and safe space for dialogue,” says Brandon. “Early in the pandemic, the West region hosted a call to introduce the various BRGs and it was great to see all the options that exist. I was drawn to the Asian Business Professionals Network because their group has done a tremendous job supporting the Asian community here at JLL. From hosting webinars and discussions to keeping us connected virtually, this BRG has been instrumental for me and my peers especially during this troubling time with the rise of Asian hate crimes. It’s great to know I have a community of support between my direct team and fellow BRG members who I can always rely on for support.”
