Peter Downie
Executive Managing Director, Commercial, Work Dynamics
Peter leads the Commercial function for JLL’s global Work Dynamics business, working with teams around the world to help clients create, shape and manage the future of work.
Peter’s team works with account management, sales and supply chain teams to manage critical relationships with clients and vendors, creating mutually beneficial partnerships that deliver clients enhanced value while driving growth for JLL.
For 30 years, Peter has helped large, global and multinational companies including Exxon and Whitbread deliver on their growth strategies through leadership positions across finance, business development, operations, strategy and mergers and acquisitions.
Since joining JLL in 2002, he has held several senior leadership roles across the firm, including Global Strategy Director, COO for JLL Hotels, and Director of Global Internal Audit. He joined Work Dynamics as COO for the EMEA region in 2010 before becoming Global COO in 2012.
In his prior roles, Peter supported the Global Executive Committee with strategic business planning and investor relations in the period immediately after JLL became an NYSE public company. During his time with JLL Hotels, the specialist hotel advisory and investment business grew threefold across 14 countries, expanding operations into the Middle East, India, Brazil and Central Europe.
Peter is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA). He holds a degree in History with honors from the University of York, and also completed the Corporate Finance Programme at the London Business School.
Peter is based in London and lives in Guildford, Surrey with his wife and two teenage children. He serves as Chair of Governors for a large local secondary school and in his spare time enjoys exercising the family dogs and watching sport.
