Joe B. Thornton

Jody is responsible for the strategic leadership of more than 2,000 capital markets professionals across the United States, Canada and Latin America. He also sits on the Americas Executive Committee as well as co-leading the Capital Markets Industrial Group.
Jody began his real estate career in 1984 after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin and a brief stint in public accounting with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. He remains active at his alma mater as a member of the Executive Council of the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. He is also on the Board of First Liberty Institute.
Before this, Jody was a founding partner of HFF L.P., having joined HFF’s predecessor firm, Holliday Fenoglio & Company in 1992. He became a Director and Vice Chairman of HFF, Inc. in November 2006, prior to the company’s IPO in 2007. In 2014, Jody assumed the role of President of HFF, Inc. and Managing Member of HFF L.P. and HFF Securities, its operating partnerships. From 2003 until 2019, he also served as Executive Managing Director at HFF and as a member of both HFF’s executive and/or operating committees.
In his free time, Jody enjoys spending time with his family, traveling to Colorado, playing golf and working out.
