As esports develops from a niche hobby to a major industry, the real estate requirements for the sector are maturing in tandem. Esports, or competitive video gaming, now resembles a traditional professional sport, with major-market teams, competitive leagues, an amateur circuit, and fans around the world. Business models in esports are still evolving, and the pandemic has temporarily disrupted business plans even further. The three major categories of esports real estate are: Retail, Venues, and Team Training/HQ. This report outlines how esports, despite being an inherently virtual industry, will need real estate in the future.
